Foundations in Public Service Leadership Program

APPLICATION DEADLINE: DEC. 6, 2024, AT 5 P.M. EST (This program is contingent upon supervisory approval and availability of funding)

 Mid-career professionals are key to ensuring their teams can achieve their missions. Strengthening your leadership foundation will allow you to assume greater responsibility for leading others, manage complex projects and work across teams.

The Foundations in Public Service Leadership Program will enable you to develop the skills to effectively influence others, lead teams and drive change within your agency.

In this course, you will learn how to:

  • Enhance your own leadership style.
  • Improve your communication skills.
  • Understand how to successfully lead others to achieve outcomes and goals.

By the end of the program, you will be able to adapt your leadership style to meet the needs of your projects and have a positive impact on the way your team, agency and customers serve the public.

WINTER 2025 PROGRAM DATES

  • SESSION 1 : Understanding Yourself – Feb. 4, 2025
  • SESSION 2: Recognizing Your Impact – Feb. 25, 2025
  • SESSION 3: Engaging Colleagues – March 18, 2025
  • SESSION 4: Cultivating Your Team Culture – April 8, 2025
  • SESSION 5: Responding to Change – April 29, 2025
  • SESSION 6: Creating Change – May 20, 2025
  • SESSION 7: Navigating the System – June 3, 2025
  • SESSION 8: Making Decisions – July 1, 2025
  • SESSION 9: Synthesis and Reflection – July 22, 2025

 

TUITION IS $4,500 AND INCLUDES:

  • All coaching and facilitation
  • Course materials (e.g., videos, articles)
  • Assessments, one-on-one coaching and individualized development planning
  • Online collaboration tools
  • Access to the Partnership’s resources, expertise and networks
  • Invitations to ongoing activities


WHO SHOULD APPLY

The Foundations in Public Service Leadership program is designed for leaders of teams, new supervisors, and technical experts who lead projects (typically GS-12 to GS-13, but could include GS-11 and GS-14 employees on a case-by-case basis).


LOCATION

All sessions will be virtual.


TIME
 COMMITMENT

The classroom sessions, combined with pre-work between sessions and one-on-one coaching, total 36 hours of coursework. You are expected to prepare for and attend every session. Prior to applying to the program, please review the program schedule and confirm your availability for one virtual orientation session on Jan. 28, from 1–2 p.m. EST, and nine half-day virtual sessions. All half-day sessions will take place from 1–5 p.m. EST.
