Thanks to the BIG CDC/ATSDR Chapter, the Outreach Committee collected nearly 1,000 units of donated items including soap, hand sanitizer, toothbrushes, toothpaste, lotion, and so much more for Jeffersonville Elementary School in Twiggs County, GA.
Jeffersonville Elementary is a Title I School. Title I is a federal education program that supports low-income students throughout the nation. Funds are distributed to high poverty schools, as determined by the number of students who qualify for free or reduced lunch. The funds can be used to hire additional teachers or teaching assistants, to provide computers or software, to fund before, after and summer school programs, and to purchase additional materials or equipment.
We will deliver these items to the school on the date shown here:
The principal has graciously scheduled time for us to share information about BIG with the teachers, which presents an opportunity for us to recruit more educators into the Chapter.
If you’d like to participate in this activity and assist with purchasing refreshments for the school faculty and setting up display tables, please reach out to the Outreach Chair, Anna Elston, at SMV3@cdc.gov.
